About the GFDA…

The Gladstone Fashion Design Awards has been created to provide a platform to inspire, showcase and support local and emerging fashion designers, while strengthening our region’s creative identity and future talent pipeline.

Amid the rise of disposable and high impact fashion, the awards will provide an opportunity for designers, seamstresses, makers and artists to creatively explore these issues through the practices of upcycling and producing high quality re-wearable garments. The awards have eight categories and will culminate in a dinner and runway show to exhibit our designers’ entries with an expected attendance of 200 guests.

Regionally based fashion designers, both local and emerging have very limited opportunity to showcase their brand and talents. The Gladstone Fashion Design Awards has been created to provide a platform for that purpose, with future goals in subsequent years to connect to other industry events to provide the designers with more exposure.

With the aim of supporting and nurturing our regional designers, in the lead up to the event our social media will feature meet the designer interviews, while our post event social media will include runway highlights and photos of entries and winners. Our sponsors will be promoted across our media channels and an array of other industries and businesses in the region will also be supported throughout the lead up and during the event, such as hairdressers, makeup artists and models.

The Gladstone Fashion Design Awards is a space where creativity, innovation and sustainability are celebrated on the runway right here in Central Queensland.
